The College of Arts and Sciences men’s volleyball was able to defend their title through dominating the game against the College of Teacher Education in a 3 set win, 25-16, 25-18, 26-24 last September 18,2015.

The CAS supporters held their breaths as the players sealed the victory game with rapid spikes and kills scoring 26-24 during the last set.

"Among team kay nagluya sila unya miscommunication ba. Nag-una sa gara-gara ba. Nagsalig sad mi ato kay twice to beat baya mi,” said CAS team quicker, Regil Ken Madiclum when asked why they scored behind CTE in the first set, 16-25. ( Our team was tired and experienced miscommunication. We were confident at first because we were twice to beat.)

Team open spiker and last hitter Marvin Tan scored the last point delivering an unbelievable spike which sent the jampacked crowd into an erupted cheers and shouts.

"Naka motivate namo kay katong sige na mi ug pamuntos. Una gyud ang Ginoo namo. Pasalamat mi Niya kay siya ang strength namo ato gud,” said Team Captain and team Setter Rudolph John Fuentes. (What motivated us was when we continuously scored. Gos was always first in us. We were thankful in Him because He was our only strength.)

"Among kontra lisod gyud. Sila among kontra nga grabe mi ka behind sa scores. Nindot sad ilaha kay all-around ilahang players whereas sa amoa kay naa gyud mi specific nga mayo gani. Pero among edge nila kay kasagaran sa amoa kay lalaki man. Unya kasagaran basta lalaki kay paspas man gud. Ganahan man gud sila (CTE) nga flexible sila tan awn ba. Ganahan sila nga graceful ba. Mao among edge kay kami mudagan man mi bisan asa mapunta nag bola,” Fuentes added. (We found it hard to defeat our opponent. They had excellent players because they are all-around while our team has specific tasks in the game. Our edge was that almost all of us are men. Men are fast compared to others. Our opponent likes to look graceful and flexible whenever they play. Our edge was that we pursue the ball wherever it goes.)

Team open spiker and former captain James Peter Macasero scored the most points during the game. He even received many compliments from his teammates right after they attained victory.

"Hardworking siya nga pagkataw. Maningkamot gyud ba,” stated Madiclum. (He’s a really hardworking guy. He always strives hard.”

The players also added that they were fully prepared for the intense championship game against CTE and were thankful when it was moved on Friday; therefore, they had a lot of energy regained right after Thursday’s match.

According to Mr. Reymar Sarsoza, CAS coach, we really cannot foresee who would win. It matters on the team if they would thrive well to be on top.

"I have the best players. Of course ang teamwork, importante gyud na,” coach Sarsoza added. (I have the best players. Of course, teamwork is always important.)
