The College of Teacher Education band celebrated and gave their supporters the gold they were aiming through winning the competition. After two weeks of serious practices combined with determination and hardwork, walking under the blazing heat of the sun was never a hindrance for them to attain the elusive victory of music. CTE was extremely giddy and blissful with the results of the live band competition which added a glistening gold medal to their standing in the Cultural Show.
"Lakas CTE!" was the battlecry of the band which led them towards an unforeseen and splendid victory of the music competition. After singing 6Cyclemind’s greatest hit “Sandalan” the band rocked the whole venue and even CAS and CN students jammed and swayed together as Serge Travero, the vocalist of the band gave his heart out while singing for everyone.
He said, “Lami e-jam sa crowd gyud kay they know the song already and supportive kayo ang CTE and even students from the other departments. Mura gani to ug dili kompetisyon kay unity kay akong nakita sa crowd while gakanta ko sa stage.” (I was motivated to join the crowd because they know the song already and students from CTE and even from other departments were very supportive. It wasn’t seem like a competition because I saw unity when I was up the stage performing.)
For Serge Travero, a 2nd year BSEd Math student, it was an overwhelming experience to join the live band competition considering that it was his first time. He also admitted that his experience in playing bars was a huge help for him to hype and emit energy from the audience
BPE students were proud of their classmates Vincent Philip Sarno and Jeriko Molina to be part of the band vying for victory. For this two, representing the whole CTE is both an honor and an opportunity to discover their talents.
"Happy ko oy kay nakadaug mi despite sa challenges namo nga giatubang bag o ang kompetisyon unya nindot pud sa feeling nga kami ang first nga nakadaug u gang first nga gold medal among nahatag sa CTE,” bassist Vincent Philip Sarno said in an interview. (I was happy because we won despite of the challenges we faced before the competition and it’s also a good feeling that we are the first to win a gold medal and the first gold medal was given to us (CTE).
Meanwhile,The College of Arts and Sciences and College of Nursing joined the competition which landed them on the 2nd place (CAS) and 3rd place (CN).
In addition, all winners of the Cultural Show are already preparing for PASUC7 this coming November in CTU Tuburan.
